The mission of the Norwalk Emergency Shelter, Inc. is to provide safe, sanitary shelter care to homeless men, women, and families; to assist shelter residents in searching for housing, jobs, counseling and treatment; and to foster residents' growth toward independence and responsibility.

Please Join us for the 2010 Annual Open Door Shelter Dinner Gala and Silent AuctionThe Norwalk Emergency Shelter is located at 4 Merritt Street in South Norwalk, Connecticut, where it has 95 beds. It provides emergency shelter for men, women, and families, as well as operates on premises a breakfast, lunch and dinner Soup Kitchen called the "Manna House of Hospitality". Through the Manna House soup kitchen, over 12,000 meals per month. The Shelter's hours are from 5:30 PM to 9:00 AM for single residents and 24 hours a day for families. It is open seven days a week. On average 91 people stay at the Shelter per night, and it is frequently full.

The Shelter is part of a network of services within the community. Shelter Case Managers interview and work with each resident to help them search for housing, jobs, job training, and appropriate counseling and treatment. Over the course of a year, our Case Managers make hundreds of referrals to city and state social service agencies.

The Norwalk Emergency Shelter and the Manna House of Hospitality are open three hundred sixty five days a year. The shelter sleeps ninety-five people and offers case management services to all that stay at the shelter as well as anyone else in the community in need...
